.. let alone of competing against China, they can't even house and feed themselves properly.

Quantity means nothing when you are competiting in advance production of a nation.  Quality(education, health, strength, tools, power... etc) of her people is far more important in an advance society.

You thinks, 600+ millions untouchable is going to all become computer wizzard and working for the call center, when they don't even have enough food to eat and proper eduation?  Get real!

In the next 20 years, India will be running out of land, food, water... etc; they will be even worst off then today Africa with their uncheck population growth, and a sea of semi-starving humanoids dragging India down.   India is truly the hell hole on earth, showcase the worst of humanity.

India is not going to compete against China any time soon, hell... India is fast racing toward the standard of North Korea with massive starvation on the horizon.
