like that of the earth's. No plate tectonics nor active volcanism.

Two major reasons:

1)Earth is bigger and trapped the heat better

2)Mars had some very big volcanos that vented out the heat fast.

The  jovian moon Io still has active sulphur volcanism bcos of tidal force from jupiter, ie external heat engine. But not mars.
