in her long history?
The amount of pre-history oral mythology is piss poor, not comparable to say the nordic, celtic and the greeks(Here I restrict to those not associated with present day 'organised religions'). Also our old myths seem to have little impact on our thinking, save the dragon myth, Shen Nung the medicine man and occassionally calling sluts 'fox demons'.Seems our ancients were secular and practical from the beginning. One reason could be that we were more interested in writing history annals than fairy tales.

Most of our later myths seem to have 2 or 3 sources and even during the time of their creation, people realised they were just stories.
1)Stories created out of happenings already recorded in fair details by historians, like the 3 kingdoms wizardry.
2)Taoist/buddhist/local dieties.
Sure people could be superstitious but that's another matter.
