just take a look around China's neighbouring democratic countries where high profile politicians were charged for nepotism, cronyism etc. The following are just the well known ones because of possible political motivation by their opponents and because they're priemer/president/leader of their party, similar to Bo's case:Philippine - Gloria Arroyo arrested while she was seeking refuge in hospitalization when political opponent Aquino comes into power.
Thailand - Thaksin Shinawatra popular priemier (popular with the poor, unpopular with the elite and The King) overthrown in a coup, just one of the 18 coups in Thailand's democratic history. Don't ever offend The King.
Malaysia - Anwar Ibrahim, ruling party's next leader in waiting, suddenly ousted and charged for corruption. After finish serving jail terms, the ruling party scrambled to find ways to stop him from entering politics, by charging him with sodomy.
S.Korea - Roh Moo-hyun commited suicide to save his family and friends when political opponent Lee Myung-bak come into power.
Japan - Ozawa Ichiro the Shadow Shogun of the Democratic Party, aspiring for priemiership, charged amid faction struggle.
ROC - Chen Shuibian, you know it, some of the hard core DPP are saying Ma Yinjou will be next when they come into power.
Mongolia - Enkhbayar, arrested barely ten days ago, yet another former president arrested when opposition comes into power.
In contrast, in fuedal China, corrupted officials would have a fair chance of bribing their way out, and clean officials could possibly be charged with invented reasons, baseless or not.
In Bo's case, not saying he's innocent of the charges, but if it's also politically motivated, I only hope Who and When do it for the sake of the nation.
