I think I already told everyone about my background before but I will do it again.
My family, both my father's and mother's sides, are mainlanders from Taiwan. My paternal grandfather was an Air Force General in the KMT military. My parents met each other in Canada when they were students. I was born in Vancouver but when I was five years old, my parents sent me back to Taiwan for me to receive elementary education in Chinese. That's why I can read, write and speak Chinese.
I understand you can also read and speak Chinese. My question to you is why you seem to know nothing about the dark side of the PRC if you can read news in Chinese or do you just read official news from the PRC?

I doubt very much you came from Taiwan, since I have never met anyone in Taiwan who shares your hysterical and irrational views about the mainland, not even TIers. Have you lived in the PRC or even been there recently, or do you just read about it? Unlike some people here I never take anything I read at face value, and I don't automatically filter out news simply because it won't fit with my political beliefs.
The PRC does indeed suffers from an array of truly monstrous problems, but they are hardly insurmountable ones given the capabilities and resources at hand. From your posts I suspect you have neither lived, visited, or have any friends or relatives in the mainland right now; and that all your knowledge on the subject comes from sources biased in a select few directions. Otherwise, since you can speak and read Chinese, you would not only be seeing the dark side of the PRC.
By the way, I replied to your post and pointed out the Guardian article - what is your response to that, I wonder?

My mother tonque is Mandarin but I can speak both. Everyone who lives in Vancouver can speak at least some Cantonese.
My answer to you is the same as my answer to Grammar Police: >Anyone who denies knowledge of such things is either not telling the truth or not paying attention to things happening in China.<
So which one are you, not telling the truth or not paying attention to things happening in China?
My work in Canada lets me have access to information about the PRC not available to ordinary people. I don't want to get into details but I guess it is up to you and other idiots such as Alecto to believe what you guys want to believe and then some day you will know who is telling the truth. No sense talking to a brick wall.

What's your work, an immigration lawyer? That's the only thing I can think of, if you were a spy or some State Department type with real "access to information" you sure would not claim so on an internet forum. Are you getting all your info from asylum-seekers claiming FLG links and associated abuses? Well, let me tell you, that kind of "information" is indeed available to "ordinary people", but it should not be taken at face value.
Seriously, that WOULD explain why you exaggerate things as much as you do even if it flies in the face of all evidence. People claim all kinds of things just to get into a country where they think they can be wealthy, you can't assume everything they say is true. If you're a lawyer you should know that, just because clients are paying you doens't mean their word is to be taken at face value. I don't know how many Chinese are trying to immigrate down here in the States but I assume it's much fewer than a few years ago. Over the past few years, a lot of people went back to China because of the US economic problems. I expect some degree of reverse brain drain in the near future as skilled professionals leave the US. I don't care who you are but you have to look at the facts. I have lived in the PRC and have numerous friends and relatives who are still there. Altohugh there are serious problems it's hardly the closed North Korean dystopia you always paint it as. Otherwise would people go back? Be reasonable.

You mean you are a Epoch Times researcher?
How much time have you actually spent living in Mainland China?
